Yesterday…

It was a small town;
now bloated, but still the same.
I don’t miss Pearland

K-Bar, M-16;
the tools of U.S. Marines.
I’m a Democrat. 

And then, to Austin.
Years behind a U-shaped bar.
Pour, shake, strain. Repeat.

Today…

Now words are my trade.
But more the thoughts behind them
that sometimes peak through.

One wife, two daughters.
Outnumbered but still in bliss.
Just hope they like golf.

And on occasion
I find peace in rough-hewn wood,
or lost in a tale.

 
Tomorrow…

Professionally,
everything is possible.
Rolling up my sleeves.

Relaxing at home,
imagining tea parties
then kissing my wife.

But my tomorrows
have yet to be decided;
only discovered.
